The Preserve at Dundee: Pheasant Ring Shoot

Nestled in Hanover County, Virginia, you’ll find the beautiful Preserve at Dundee. Built sometime in the 1810’s this home was lived in by General JEB Stuart and his wife during the Civil War and the surrounding grounds were used as a camp for both armies.

Fast forward to 1990’s, historical Dundee went through a three year transformation, being restored to it’s original glory by the Barrett family, and is now open to the public as a wedding and events venue, as well as a 200-acre upland hunting preserve.

I joined along on a British Style Pheasant Ring Shoot over the holidays. 500 pheasants released in the Pines - the smoke, shells, and feathers flying, retrievers doing their best work, and the smiles all around were a sight to behold.
