A community oriented non-profit, no-kill shelter, their mission is to practice and promote the principle that every life is precious.

Our goal is to raise as much funding as possible. Here’s what your registration fees and donations can do for animals in need

— $3,000—

  • Provides lifesaving heartworm treatment for 12 dogs. (Last year, they treated 173 heartworm positive dogs.)

  • Provide cataract surgery for one dog in their care.

  • Replaces revenue lost due to cancelled children’s events at the Richmond SPCA for the last 3 months due to the Covid pandemic.

— $5,000 —

  • Provides orthopedic surgeries for 2 injured dogs.

  • Fuels the Richmond SPCA’s transfer van for an entire year. This means the team can visit shelters all across Virginia and bring animals who otherwise could potentially be euthanized into their care.

  • Spays or neuters 40 dogs belonging to families in need in their Susan M. Markel Veterinary Hospital.

— $10,000 —

  • Provides radiation therapy, CT scans, lab work, ultrasounds, and rechecks for pets in their care undergoing cancer treatment.

  • Purchases 2 weeks worth of medical supplies or pays the electric bill for 1 month.

  • Allows continued low-cost veterinary care for local families in need. On average, the Richmond SPCA waives $10,000 per month in veterinary care.

— The Inspiration —

You see this little white pibble right here? This is Kona, my rescue soul-dog, and the inspiration behind Tails of the River City. She just turned 13 in May; her zest for life and fun, adventurous nature sparks a joy in my heart everyday. I know eventually all I’ll have left will be sweet memories, but we’re not there yet. Not even close! I’ve made her a promise to get outside, explore, and make her golden years the best ones yet!
